Thousands of students will converge on higher education campuses across Australia during Orientation Week 2017, and we want to see our clients’ campaigns front and centre.

Avant Card has 147 higher education displays across nearly 60 institutions, including universities, TAFE and private colleges. The Australian Bureau of Statistics estimated that in May 2016, over 3 million people aged 15-24 were enrolled in formal study, with 2.2 million studying non-school qualifications.

Almost half of all Avant Card bookings are displayed at our higher education venues at our clients’ request, and it is the third largest segment of our distribution network.

This is a prime time to run campaigns aimed at people aged 15-24: under-30’s pricing; free events or services; student deals and discounts; health awareness; market research surveys or subscriber call-outs with student-friendly prizes (cash, electronics).

Think bold, eye-catching graphics, pop-culture catchphrases that will elicit laughter (or groans) and prominent hashtags prompting digital engagement. Clear, succinct messaging with a straightforward call to action, and if a URL is required, make it short.

The University of Canberra heads the charge, with their 2017 Orientation Week running 6-10 February. Others have opted for 13-17 February, but most universities will see their 2017 Orientation Week run from 20-24 February.

New students will also be heading out to explore the suburb or town surrounding their campus. Local cafes, cinemas, supermarkets and libraries will all get a look in. A series of Avant Cards – such as ‘collect all 3 for your chance to win’ – distributed to local areas as well as our higher education venues could boost engagement with your campaign.
